Born in Memphis
Bobby Whitlock represents the true southern blues/soul singer. he was the first white artist to be signed to the stax hip label at the tender age of 16. In the eyes of stax bobby was destined to be a star. Taken under the wings of Steve cropper and donald (duck)dunn bobby was heading in the right direction from an early age..
Always running on his intuition, bobby agreed to go to california to become a "friend" in the group delaney & Bonnie.
Bobby became friends with eric clapton during the short 3 month tour in england in 1969.

Derek & The Dominos
Eric Clapton , Bobby Whitlock
Carl Radle and Jim Gordon
There are millions of bands in the world...millions of records having been made since 1970, but none have surpassed the depth and Spirit of "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" .
Jim Gordon , Carl Radle were a formidable foundation for Derek & The Dominos. And of course the Tom Dowd connection brought Duane Allman's unforgettable contribution in on the scene.
Derek & The Dominos gave Bobby and Eric the platform they needed to shine as frontmen ,songwriters and singers.
Together they made an incredible team writing memorable hits like "Tell the Truth", "Anyday" , " I Lookes Away","Why does Love got to be so sad" , and "Keep on Growing". Each of them had their own gems as well to add with Eric's "Layla" , "I Am Yours" , and Bobby's "Thorn Tree in the garden" . Unfortunatly, the band had broken up before the release of the record.
Through the years there have tremendous ups and downs , but Bobby has ever remained positive , keeping a sacred friendship with his old pal and never forgetting how far he has risen above the place from where he came yet having an understanding that it was exactly that which helped to form who he is today.
This Winter of 2010 Bobby's Autobiography will be arriving in bookstores around the world, here he has the opportunity to tell his story and share his feelings about a fantastic life from picking cotton to making one of the greatest records in Rock-n-Roll history with some of the greatest musicians of our time.
